7.30am: We’re filming the third series of The Mighty Boosh out in Surrey and I’m staying at a hilarious hotel full of corporate businessmen. If I’d stayed at home in London last night, my producer knows I’d have gone out and never got up this morning. The last time I promised him I wouldn’t go out was when I was rehearsing in London. I was rumbled when he saw a picture of me out with Courtney Love in a newspaper. In my defence, the night wasn’t nearly as full on as it was made out to be - but I did break an antique table when I was arm wrestling a girl. It cost a fortune and Courtney just said, ‘Oh, put it on my tab.’

7.45am: I have a quick shower and pull on some jeans. I haven’t got up before midday since I was at school. It kills me. I can’t even talk - all I manage to do is stare at people. It takes me about three hours to wake up.

8am: Walk downstairs like a robot and get into the car that’s waiting to take me to the studio. On arrival, I go into hair and make-up, which takes about an hour, and loads of strong coffee is poured down my throat. Today we’re shooting an episode where Howard, played by Julian Barratt, goes into my character Vince’s body and watches telly in my brain. This means I have to dress up as a nerdy weatherman, an MTV presenter, and a camp John Galliano-type French fashion designer. The morning goes really quickly.

1pm: We break for lunch and I’m wearing an 18th-century waistcoat, which I try not to spill any food on. The caterers on film sets are usually dodgy, but the guys today are geniuses. There’s fresh fruit, cheeses, salads and desserts - and even real coffee.

3pm: Julian and I are in every scene so we don’t get much of a break, but I don’t mind. When I’m not rehearsing or filming, I spend my days in meetings about everything from TV to promotions. I’ll drink about 50 cups of coffee, then come home wired out of my mind. But meetings can be fun, and they get me out of the house. They make me feel like my career’s going somewhere, despite the fact I’m just drinking coffee with strangers I’ll never see again. I think, ‘Check me out, I’m important, I’ve got meetings in Soho House.’ Sometimes I even fit in a bit of shopping, too.

8.30pm: We’re supposed to finish filming at 7pm, but I have a crazy costume on as I’m playing The Spirit of Jazz, and it takes an hour to get out of it. Julian and I go back to the hotel and have a drink at the bar. These old Aussie guys on a golfing tour recognise us. I get recognised all the time, but that’s because I have stupid hair and dress exactly the same as I do on telly. I’ve tried wearing different clothes but it doesn’t work. 10pm: One of the Aussie guys, Rooster, asks if we want to join a gambling game, but we decline and keep drinking at the bar. At home, I drink at The Hawley Arms in Camden. I go out a lot and find it impossible to stay in. Loads of my mates are in bands [Noel is often photographed out on the town with members of Razorlight, The Horrors and Dirty Pretty Things] so there’s always a gig to go to. Plus we get invited to everything now. I was recently given a £20,000 plasma telly just for turning up to a party, which was hilarious. I got drunk, ran around, got my telly and then went home.

12am: Usually if I go out, I never get in before the morning, but as we are filming again tomorrow, I have an early night. I always wash my face before bed because I usually have make-up on and I’d end up looking like Alice Cooper otherwise. And I can’t sleep if I don’t clean my teeth. I should drink gallons of water to ward off the hangover, but I never do. I always wake up poisoned the next morning.
